ALAPPUZHA: There is suspicion of Mpox in Alappuzha. A person who came from abroad was admitted to Alappuzha Medical College after he developed symptoms. His family is in quarantine.
Meantime, the woman who was admitted to a hospital in Kannur on suspicion of Mpox symptoms has been confirmed to have chickenpox. The woman's test result was negative. On September 1, the woman, who had returned from abroad, developed symptoms similar to Mpox. The woman was later admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital last morning after she showed symptoms for the past one week. She was shifted to isolation at the medical college based on suspicion.
A native of Malappuram, who came from abroad the other day, was confirmed of Mpox. Malappuram case is the second case of Mpox in the country. A 38-year-old man who arrived from the UAE was diagnosed with the disease. The man had a fever and a rash similar to chickenpox on his body. The doctor got suspicious and sent the sample for testing.
