THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister has made public the toughness of his stance by providing a protective shield to P Sasi and completely rejecting PV Anvar, who dropped allegation bombs against the government. He also sent a clear message to his own party and CPI that action would be taken only if necessary after the inquiry report comes out against Mr Ajith Kumar, who held a controversial meeting with RSS leaders.

The warning that legal action will be contemplated against the media that is carrying out vandalism to stop central assistance in the Wayanad tragedy is also part of the strategy to counter dissenting voices.

Pinarayi, who has labelled Anvar, who came from the Congress, as not a left-leaning person and untrustworthy, is also targeting alternative strongholds in the CPM, which are suspected to have lined up behind Anvar. It is also a precautionary measure to prevent the allegations raised by Anvar on the issues of P Sasi and ADGP-RSS meeting from becoming the main topic of discussion at party conferences.

Pinarayi said that the allegations against Sasi are rejected with contempt, targeting leaders in Kannur who are waging a campaign against Sasi ahead of the party conference.

Without provocating CPI

The Chief Minister dismissed Anvar's allegation that Ajith Kumar was also involved in the Karipur gold smuggling case, saying it was part of the unrest of hawala dealers but did not offer that protection to Ajith Kumar in the Thrissur Pooram disruption controversy. Stating that one more week's time has been sought to complete the investigation and a report has been directed to be submitted by the 24th, the Chief Minister assured action against those found guilty. This is to soften the CPI, which is demanding an inquiry report and action in the Pooram disruption controversy. Making it clear that the ADGP-RSS meeting is serious and action will be taken if found guilty in the investigation is a reply not only to the opposition but also to the party and the Left Front.

Anvar attacks Chief minister

Indirectly challenging the chief minister's remarks that P Sasi's work was exemplary, Anvar reminded that EMS was a Congress secretary. Anvar alleged that P Sasi was involved in the gold smuggling at the Karipur airport. He also demanded that the chief minister reconsider his stand. Anvar said that if the party does not want him, he will look for another way out and that he will not be burnt in the sun as he grew in the fire. Making it clear that he would not say anything against the chief minister, Anvar was indirectly attacking the chief minister.
