CHENNAI: Anna Sebastian, a 26-year-old Malayalee and a chartered accountant of Ernst & Young (EY) had collapsed and died due to work stress recently. Now a similar incident has been reported from Chennai.


Karthikeyan, a 38-year-old IT employee, committed suicide by electrocuting himself in Chennai. He ended his life after wrapping himself with a live power and self-electrocuted. Karthikeyan hails from Theni. He has a wife and two children. Relatives alleged that work pressure was behind the suicide.


Police said that Karthikeyan had complained that he was facing severe pressure from the workplace and was undergoing treatment for depression. The police informed that they will question the officers of the private company in Pallavaram where he was working.


The central government has started an investigation into the death of Anna Sebastian who died two months ago after she could not bear the pressure of work. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Union Minister of State for Labor Shobha Karantalaje announced the inquiry on the complaint filed by former union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar through X asking for an investigation into this.


The problem gained public attention when the complaint sent by Anna's mother to the company was published in a national media the other day. Anna is the daughter of Siby Joseph and Anitha Augustine of Enakulam. She joined EY four months ago after passing CA. She joined office in Pune on March 19. She died in the hostel on July 20. Her brother is Arun Augustine.
