THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Investigation report says there is no outside interference in messing up of Thrissur Pooram. This is contained in the report submitted by ADGP MR Ajith Kumar to DGP yesterday. The report, which states that there was no deliberate coup or conspiracy in the mess in Pooram, also says that Ankit Ashok, who was the city police commissioner, failed in coordination and persuasion. Meanwhile, the DGP will examine the ADGP's investigation report today. A five-month investigation has been completed and ADGP MR Ajith Kumar gave the report yesterday. The initial instruction was to submit the inquiry report within a week but the investigation report was submitted yesterday after many controversies. It is indicated that there is more in the report than the description of the events that took place on the night of Pooram.
The chief minister had said yesterday that he had extended a week's time for the inquiry into the Thrissur Pooram messing up incident and would get the report on the 24th. Within hours after this, Ajith Kumar handed over the report to the DGP.
The Chief Minister has received four complaints regarding Pooram messing up. It was handed over to the DGP. ADGP Ajith Kumar has been tasked to submit the report within a week after conducting the investigation. The problems occurred when MR Ajith Kumar was in Thrissur. Thrissur Commissioner Ankit Ashok was transferred. The government had said that further action would be taken after receiving the detailed report.
There were allegations that the government used the police to make Pooram a mess to create a favorable situation for BJP candidate Suresh Gopi in Thrissur. LDF candidate VS Sunilkumar also expressed his anger against the police action.
State Public Information Officer MS Santhosh was suspended yesterday when he replied that there was no investigation under the Right to Information Act as to whether there was any kind of investigation into the messing up of Thrissur Pooram.
