NEW DELHI: The central government has announced 50 quad scholarships worth five lakh dollars (approximately four crores) for students from the Indo-Pacific region. The opportunity is for four-year engineering graduate students. The new announcement came after Narendra Modi attended a summit held at US President Joe Biden's alma mater Archmere Academy in Clayton, Delaware. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida attended the summit.


After attending the summit, Narendra Modi responded that QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) is not against anyone and is essential for humanity. He said that there should be a peaceful solution to the current crises and there is a need for law according to the international order.


Meantime, Bidel responded that Quad is a group of democracies that get things done. Albanese said Quad is committed to serving key areas such as clean energy, critical technology and counter-terrorism. The leaders also participated in the Cancer Moonshot program to increase support for cancer patients in the Indo-Pacific region.


Modi also promised 40 million vaccine doses to Indo-Pacific countries under the GAVI and QUAD initiatives. Meanwhile, the Institute of International Education announced the second batch of students for the study. They are students from Association of South East Asian countries. Usually Australia, India, Japan, America, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand. Students from Vietnam are selected for this.
