ANANTAPUR: During a recent Duleep Trophy match, an on-field incident between pace bowler Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson has sparked widespread attention. The incident occurred during a game between India D and India A, where both Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh were playing for India D.
The controversy arose when India A's Khalil Ahmed was at the crease and Arshdeep came in to bowl. His delivery edged behind Khalil Ahmed’s bat, offering a potential catch. However, a miscommunication between Sanju Samson, who was behind the stumps and Devdutt Padikkal, stationed at slip, led to the ball slipping through both players and racing to the boundary. Frustrated by the missed opportunity, Arshdeep Singh was visibly upset and expressed his anger using abusive language, which was caught on camera.
The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing significant attention from fans. Sanju Samson’s supporters have particularly voiced their displeasure, defending the Kerala-born cricketer. Many have commented on the clip, expressing frustration over the lack of respect shown to Sanju.
India A, led by Shams Mulani’s half-century, had posted a total of 260 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 77 overs when the incident occurred. Despite the momentary lapse, the match continued without further interruptions. However, the tension between the players has fueled discussions online, with fans weighing in on the sportsmanship displayed during the incident.
No one Respects Sanju.
