KATTAPPANA: Live worms were found in the chicken curry served at a hotel in Kattappana. Three students who ate the curry without knowing it have been hospitalized. The students of Vellaramkunnu were admitted at a private hospital in Kattappana for food poisoning. The students had chicken curry and parotta from a hotel at Pallikavala in Kattappana.
The students had the food after their swimming classes at the academy in Ossanam in Kattappana. The students vomited after seeing a lot of live worms in the curry. They later developed stomach ache and physical discomfort and were admitted in the hospital. A complaint has been lodged at the health department. Worms also got into their hands from the food.
The students themselves informed the hotel authorities after seeing the live worms. The hospital said they are monitoring the health condition of the students.
The municipal health department informed that the hotel was functioning in an unhygienic place and has been shut. The chicken curry is believed to be weeks old. The authorities are trying to tighten inspection following the incident.
