NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, space, energy, telecom, semiconductor and many other sectors. The meeting took place at Biden's Wilmington residence during the Quad Summit. Modi appreciated Biden's contribution to the India-US partnership. Views were shared on global and regional issues including the Indo-Pacific concerns.

Cooperation will be strengthened in artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, clean energy and cyber security. A deal was also made to set up a semiconductor fabrication plant in India for national security and green energy.

NASA and ISRO will collaborate on scientific research on the International Space Station in 2025. US-India drug policy will be developed to curb illicit substances and illicit drugs.

Defense contract

1. Jet Engines, Munitions and Ammunition Ground Mobility Joint Manufacturing Project.

2. Lockheed Martin and Tata Advanced Systems have signed a contract for a maintenance centre in India for C-130J Super Hercules aircraft.

3. The deal to buy 31MQ-9b drones from General Atomics Company was evaluated to strengthen the Indian Army.

4. Biden welcomed 5% GST on aircraft engines, spare parts, maintenance and overhaul sector.

1. Solar power generation in India with US technology.

2. 25 crores for Tata Power Solar and 50 crores for First Solar.

3. One billion dollars through IBRD.

US President Joe Biden also praised PM Modi’s history-making visits to Poland and Ukraine amid the ongoing eastern European war.

India has signed three of the four basic agreements of the 14-nation Indo-Pacific Partnership, which was formed in Tokyo on May 23, 2022, under the leadership of the US. Agreements were reached on clean energy, trade transparency and anti-corruption.
