BENGALURU: Four special teams have been appointed to investigate the incident in which the body of a young woman was found in the refrigerator of the apartment. Last day, the body parts of Mahalakshmi (29), a resident of Nelamangala, and an employee of a mall, were found in her apartment in Munneswara block. She has been living alone for some time after leaving her husband and daughter.
Neighbours informed Mahalakshmi's relatives when a foul smell started emanating from the apartment. When they came and checked, body parts were found in the fridge. The investigation is being done by checking the CCTV footage of the nearby area.
The police are interrogating all those who are closely related to Mahalakshmi. Her friend, a native of West Bengal and an employee of a barber shop, has been detained by the police. Residents of the neighbourhood had testified that he used to come to the apartment to meet Mahalakshmi from time to time.
The body was found cut into 50 pieces from the fridge. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the relatives yesterday afternoon. The police say that the body may have been brought to the apartment after the murder was committed elsewhere. There was no bloodstain of the murder or any attempt to destroy the evidence. Mahalakshmi had a suitcase near her bed. The police also stated that detailed information can only be provided after further investigation.
