THRISSUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday warned that strong action will be taken if MLA PV Anvar continues his provocative actions, referring to the recent set of allegations levelled by the MLA against the Chief Minister's office and Home Department.

Notably, senior CPM leaders and ministers had come forward against Anvar after the Chief Minister lashed out at the MLA the other day. This development came amid a growing perception that Pinarayi is becoming increasingly isolated within the party, with no senior leaders stepping forward to defend him. The party leadership is also monitoring Anvar's further moves. It is indicated that this is as per the instructions of the Chief Minister.

PV Anwar had announced a temporary halt on his provocative statements after the Chief Minister rejected his allegations in the press conference and the CPM state secretariat requested him to correct his stance.

PV Anvar's decision to back down was interpreted as a surrender after he stated that the party was everything and that he did not wish to make more public statements. It appears that the party's decision to request, rather than direct, Anvar to correct his stance has sparked allegations that they're actually afraid of him. The party, meanwhile, argues that it cannot make a demand to Anvar who is not a member of the party.

Tension continues to escalate
Anvar's actions have landed him in hot water with the Chief Minister. After claiming to have surrendered to the party, Anvar replaced the Chief Minister's picture on his Facebook profile with images of party workers, which is being seen as an insult. Additionally, his harsh criticism of Forest Minister AK Saseendran and his department during an event in Thrissur yesterday further infuriated the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister issued a veiled warning to Anvar, stating that there will be severe consequences if he continued to make allegations, though without directly mentioning Anvar's name. The government has multiple grounds to take action against Anwar, including his admission to tapping ministers' and officials' phones and unauthorized land acquisition.
