NEWYORK: US tech giants including Google have expressed interest in investing heavily in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in India. The response from the business mammoths came after the meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
15 tech leaders including Sundar Pichai (Google), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), Shantanu Narayan (Adobe), Arvind Krishna (IBM) and Julie Sweet (Accenture) interacted with Modi. The companies have agreed to deepen cooperation with India in the fields of AI, semiconductor, quantum computing and biotechnology.
A discussion was held regarding the tech advancement in India. Modi said that the benefits of AI should reach everyone. The Indian PM encouraged the ethical and responsible use of AI. The Prime Minister said that India will become a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing by investing 15 billion dollars in the semiconductor sector.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai appreciated Narendra Modi for encouraging him to expand the design and manufacturing of Google products in India. Pichai praised Modi for his vision to make most of the AI sector to benefit the country.
Modi called for applications that can create change in health, education and agriculture.
