PARAVUR: A woman was electrocuted from a charging machine at a vehicle charging centre near the KSEB Mannam substation. KL Swapna (43), a native of Vaniyakkad, and a former councillor of the municipality, suffered burn injuries on the thumb of her right hand and left leg, and sought treatment at a private hospital.
The incident took place at 6.45 am yesterday. The accident took place when Swapna, who settled in Pathanamthitta after her marriage, came to charge the car before going there. The machine became non-functional when the car was charged 59 percent. As she waited for a while but it did not work, she took the plug from the connector and put it back into the machine. This is when she got electrocuted. Swapna fell down and had shortness of breath and dizziness.
The charging centre was temporarily closed following the accident. Officials said representatives of the company and KSEB officials will conduct a detailed inspection. Swapna lodged a complaint with the Paravur police.
