BENGALURU: The police have registered a case against Simi Nair of Pathanamthitta, on the complaint of destroying an Onapookalam. The Sampigehalli police registered a case on the complaint of the Malayali community of Monarch Serenity Apartment Complex in Bengaluru. She deliberately destroyed the pookalam created by children in the common area to celebrate Onam. She was widely criticized on social media for her act.

The children of the apartment created the pookalam which is the symbol of Onam celebrations. The children bought the flowers early in the morning and prepared the pookalam. After getting into a heated exchange with the organizers, Simi stood on the pookalam and destroyed it. Simi Nair did not listen even though all the organizers asked her not to destroy it.
Manish Raj, president of the association, said the onasadya was shifted to the parking bay due to the dispute. The Malayali community has been celebrating Onam for seven years.
