THENI: It has been alleged that a Malayali nursing student was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a group in Theni, Tamil Nadu. The incident took place today morning. According to reports, the girl was abandoned near the Dindigul railway station after the sexual assault. The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the Dindigul Government Hospital.

The girl's family has been residing in Uthamapalayam for a long time. She was a second-year nursing student at a private institution in Theni. While travelling by bus from Theni to Uthamapalayam, she informed her father by phone that a woman was following her. During their phone conversation, the girl's phone suddenly got switched off. Her father immediately alerted the police, leading to the discovery of the sexual assault incident. After the girl got off the bus, she was forcibly dragged into a car by a group of men who had been waiting for her. They then assaulted her inside the car, before abandoning her near the railway station.

The young woman told the police that she was forcibly taken away in a car and brutally assaulted by a group of men. According to reports, the culprits travelled in a car registered in Kerala. According to police, a four-member gang is suspected to be behind the incident. The victim herself reported the harassment to the Railway Police. Following this, they informed the Theni Police and admitted the girl to the hospital. The police stated that they are conducting an investigation into the incident by collecting CCTV footage.
