THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran said that the high court's remarks against the state government for hiding the Hema Committee report for five years is a slap across the face of the Pinarayi government. "The court's observation that the government's action is mysterious shows the true colour of the government," he said in a statement.
"The court's remarks once again show that this is an anti-women government. The government is protecting the hunters in the case in which the CPM MLA himself is an accused. It is clear that the government's conspiracy is the reason for the accused MLA getting bail. It is a farce to arrest him after registering a case under bailable sections. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should at least tell the people of Kerala why the Hema Committee report was kept in the dark for so long. This is the second time that the government has come under criticism from the High Court on the issue. Even the court has said that the government's stand is shocking. I don't understand whom the government is protecting by taking a stand that hurts the dignity of all the women in Kerala. Sheer inaction and complacency are the hallmarks of this government. The atrocities committed against women in Kerala during the last eight years of the Pinarayi government are a national record," Surendran said.
