MUMBAI: The state government’s investigation into the death of Malayali native Anna Sebastian found that the consultant firm EY(Ernst & Young) operated without any proper registration.
A senior government official responded that since 2007, the institution has been operating without permission from the Maharashtra government.
Maharashtra Additional Labor Commissioner Shailendra Paul said he visited the company in Pune last day and it was clear that they did not have registration under the Shops and Establishment Act.
The company applied for registration to the Labor Department in February 2024. However, it was rejected citing the company operating illegally without registering since 2007. EY is allowed seven days to explain the reason for the delay in the registration application. No company officials have responded to the news.
