LUCKNOW: Amid the uproar over the death of Anna Sebastian, an employee of Ernst & Young (EY) due to work stress, a similar incident has happened. Sadaf Fatima, appointed as additional deputy vice president of HDFC Bank's Vibhuti Khand branch in Uttar Pradesh's Gomtinagar, died due to work pressure, alleged her colleagues. Sadaf fell from her chair on September 24 while working and she was rushed to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. Officials said that an investigation has been started into the incident and more clarity will be obtained only after getting the post-mortem report. However, the bank officials have not yet responded to the issue.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav came forward blaming the central government for the incident. He alleged that such deaths are symbolic of the country's present economic stress. All companies and government departments should take serious note of this. This is an irreparable loss to the country's human resources. Such sudden deaths are questioning the working conditions in the country. The BJP government is responsible for such sudden deaths as well as the statements of BJP leaders which demoralize the general public, he wrote on X.

Meantime, after the incident that caused the death of Anna Sebastian, a report emerged that the EY company has not been registered. A senior government official had responded yesterday that since 2007, the institution has been operating without the permission of the Maharashtra government.

Maharashtra Additional Labor Commissioner Shailendra Paul said that he visited the company in Pune the other day and the company does not have registration under the Shops and Establishment Act.

The company applied for registration to the Labor Department in February 2024. However, it was rejected citing lack of registration since 2007. The company is given seven days to explain the reason for the delay in registration application. However, EY has not responded in this regard.
