KOCHI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the sexual assault case against veteran actor Siddique has intensified its probe to find the actor. The actor has been in hiding since the last two days. Meanwhile, a statement made by Siddique in a press conference in 2018 is now going viral on social media.
"MeToo is a very good campaign. It is a good thing not only for film actresses but for every girl in Kerala. It is a good thing that a girl decides to expose the perpetrator's name s soon as she is harassed. You don't have to wait for twenty years. You must slap him in the face at the very second you get harassed. You should have the courage to expose the name of the perpetrator soon after the crime is committed" Siddique said back then.
"The people of Kerala as a whole will stand with every girl. My request is that you should respond immediately at the moment of harassment. Don't think all men are enemies of women, or that exploitation occurs only in the film industry. When there is an isolated incident, action is taken against it. We will file a case if we get information about such harassment. What's stopping women from complaining to the police? If it's a matter that requires intervention from the police, then they should definitely approach the police," Siddique added.
Late actress KPAC Lalitha had also attended the press conference along with Siddique.
