RANNI: A woman who stole a bangle from a jewellery store was caught by the sales staff and handed over to the police. The accused is Binsi Chirakkal (46), a native of Udumbanchola village in Idukki district. The theft occurred at a jewellery store in Ranni town. The sales staff chased and caught the thief, later handing her over to the police.
Binsi arrived at the store at around 11. 45 am yesterday, pretending to buy ornaments. After examining the gold bangles for some time, she secretly put one of the bangles into her bag. She then distracted the staff and quickly went out of the store, saying she would buy the gold later.
Suspecting foul play, the sales staff immediately chased her. She caught up with Binsi at the bus stand, where she was trying to board a bus. The staff apprehended her and took her to the jewellery store. Binsi returned the necklace and requested to be let off without further issues. However, the sales staff brought her back to the store and informed the owner. Binsi attempted to escape again, running out and boarding an autorickshaw. However, the autorickshaw driver stopped the vehicle upon seeing the sales staff chasing after her, enabling her to apprehend Binsi. Following this, a police team led by SI Krishnakumar took Binsi to the station and presented her in court.
