THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rain in 11 districts of the state in the coming hours. According to the notification issued at 8 pm, there is a possibility of rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the coming hours. IMD has warned of a possibility of light rain in these districts. Yellow alert was declared in Kannur and Kasargod districts today.
Meanwhile, IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light/moderate rain in Kerala for the next seven days. The low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal near the Andhra-Odisha coast has weakened to form a cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh, causing the rains. Therefore, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on September 25 and 29. A yellow alert has been sounded in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and strong winds with a speed of 30-40 kmph (maximum 50 kmph) at isolated places over Kerala on September 25, 29 and 30.
