THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government rejected the investigation report of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar in the disruption of Thrissur Pooram. The report said there is no external intervention behind the disruption of Thrissur Pooram. The government rejected this argument. The home secretary directed a re-investigation into the incident.
The home secretary also recommended an inquiry against the ADGP. He recommended that there should be a DGP-level inquiry against the ADGP. There may be an inquiry led by crime branch head on the disruption of Thrissur Pooram after imposing unnecessary restrictions. The investigation is being considered by the government at a time when the issue is turning a political controversy and the assembly session convening on October 4.
The intelligence department found that the ADGP, who rejected the security plan of city police commissioner Ankit Ashok, had implemented the strict restrictions. The ADGP, who was in Thrissur three days ago, switched off his phone after 1 am on pooram day and went to rest in the guest house of the police academy. He did not intervene despite the problems. Ankit Ashok is blamed in ADGP's report.
The lapses of IG and DIG are not in the report. The ADGP was tasked to find out the lapses of the police. However, the report has not mentioned any lapses. The ADGP's report said Thiruvambadi Devaswam has a role in disrupting pooram and there is a political motive in this.
