In a recent interview, actor Bala opened up about his near-death experience and how he got resuscitated by hearing his daughter’s heartening words.
Bala divorced his first wife Amrutha in 2019. The couple have a daughter Avantika, who is now living along with her mother.
BALA:
‘At one point in my life, I hated everyone. The liver disease got severe and I saw death knocking at my doors. But I made a miraculous escape and came back to life. Then I realised something that had hitherto not passed through my mind. Divorces are acceptable in a society but taking away children from their fathers is not just brutal but can tear apart a whole family.
Many advocated for equal rights. So what about the custody of children? Don’t you want equal rights here? A heart of gold is bigger than any money. I believe in that philosophy.
I am very rich. I met a poor girl and fell in love with her. I soon married her and led a decent life. Eventually, everything fell apart. And now, I don’t even have the right to visit my daughter. When I was in critical condition, Amrutha’s father came to visit me. But when I got out of the hospital, he died. Later I saw Amrutha’s video on social media singing a song in dedication to her late father. She was crying in the video since she knows how valuable a father’s love is. Doesn’t this apply to my daughter?
Mentally I was prepared to die in the hospital bed. But when my daughter approached me and said she loves me very much, my mind went hazy and I could only think about getting better and returning to life.”
