MALAPPURAM: Nilambur MLA PV Anvar, who challenged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPM by holding a press conference, has announced that he is severing his ties with the Left Front.
"I am not dumb to step down as MLA. It is the people of Nilambur who gave me this three-letter title. No one needs to expect me to resign from that position. If I'm not dead, I will remain an MLA for the next one and a half years. If anything else happens in between, that's okay. But no one should come to me asking if I would resign now," Anvar told media.
Anvar announced that he will no longer remain on the Left Democratic Front. He also said that he will reveal his future plans at an upcoming public conference in Nilambur this Sunday. When quizzed if he would return to the Congress, Anvar did not provide a clear response.
