THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM is bracing for a confrontation with MLA PV Anwar, who recently made serious accusations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the party. In response, the party has decided to counter Anwar's claims, asserting that he can no longer be considered a left-wing MLA.

Coalition convener TP Ramakrishnan, clarifying the party's stance, emphasized that Anwar’s actions appear to support the party's adversaries. "Anwar’s position only serves the interests of those working against the party," Ramakrishnan said. The CPM has resolved that it can no longer align with Anwar, signaling an official rift. The parliamentary party, however, will not participate in discussions with the MLA.

Among Anwar's allegations were serious claims involving the infamous gold smuggling case. The party believes that despite rising to prominence with its support, Anwar has since aligned with forces attempting to dismantle the CPM.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has remained silent on Anwar's accusations. During a recent event in Aluva, media personnel were unable to reach the Chief Minister, as security forces, heavily deployed, kept the press at bay.

Despite the mounting tensions, Anwar has firmly stated that he will not relinquish his MLA post, even if directed by the CPM. "The people elected me and I will not step down just because the party says so," he declared at a press conference.

Anwar's accusations included pointed criticisms of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his political secretary P Sashi and ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. He accused the Chief Minister, whom he once viewed as a father figure, of betrayal, saying that Pinarayi’s stature had plummeted from "100 to zero."
