MALAPPURAM: CPM workers on Friday raised murder slogans against Nilambur MLA PV Anvar who recently severed his ties with the Left Front. The party workers came out against Anvar after he levelled serious allegations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPM. CPM activists took to the streets in Malappuram, Nilambur, and Edakkara. In Kozhikode district, activists staged protests against Anvar. They raised the slogan, 'Chenkodi thottu kalikkenda' (Anvar should not dare play by touching the red flag)

Several activists, once close to Anwar, participated in protest programs. The activists even raised threatening slogans such as 'If Govindan mash snaps his fingers, Anvar's hands and legs will be chopped off and thrown into the river'. Protesters also burned effigies of the MLA as part of the demonstrations.

Earlier, CPM state secretary MV Govindan had alleged that Anvar has turned into the axe in the hands of the 'right-wing' forces.

"Party sympathizers and comrades should come forward. Anvar's stance and political approaches reveal his lack of understanding about the communist party's ideology," Govindan said during a press conference held at Kerala House in Delhi.
