Comrade Pushpan has left us ending his three-decade-long suffering. The heart of every communist that felt a fervour when they heard that name is sad at this moment. Along with Comrade, one more memorable chapter in the history of the party is burning within us as a fire.
This land will never forget November 25, 1994. Comrade Pushpan, who faced the then UDF state terror that took the lives of five DYFI activists - K K Rajeevan, K V Roshan, Shibulal, Babu and Madhu - lost his life even though his breath remained. The Koothuparamba firing left the comrade bedridden forever.
Comrade Pushpan's communist heart was not shaken even when he had to fight his ill-health, which brought him suffering for the rest of his life. He has not repented of the tragedy he has suffered. For what led him was not selfish ambitions, but the courage and firm communist convictions to sacrifice himself for the sake of his land. It was an extraordinary loyalty to the party.
Comrade Pushpan's martyrdom is an unquenchable pain and an unquenchable fervour at the same time for the party. Comrade Pushpan is the answer every communist can give to the question of who a communist is. Therefore, as in everyone else, the passing away of the comrade has created a lot of grief personally.
Comrade Pushpan's life was one that convinced us of the greatness of a revolutionary. Tributes to Comrade Pushpan, the eternal symbol of human love and sacrifice. I share the pain of my comrades and family. Long live revolution!
