MUMBAI: KRBL, a leading basmati rice distributor in the country, has recalled 1 kg packets of India Gate Pure Basmati Rice Feast Rozana Super Value from the market. The company took this action after detecting excess pesticide residues in the rice beyond permissible limits.
Reports indicate that the recalled packets of KRBL basmati rice contain two types of pesticides: Thiamethoxam and Isoproturon. If consumed, these can severely impact kidney and liver health.
KRBL is one of the world's largest basmati rice exporters and a leading distributor in India. All the recalled products were packaged together in the same batch. KRBL stated that it decided to recall packets from the affected batch from the market immediately upon receiving the warning.
