MUMBAI: Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson has secured a spot as the main wicketkeeper in the Indian team for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. The team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, also includes Jitesh Sharma as a backup wicket-keeper. Sanju is likely to open the batting for India in the series. The team, announced today, features youngsters Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, and Nithish Kumar Reddy as new faces.

Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj have been rested. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Ruturaj Gaikwad were not considered for team selection.

Sanju was named the main wicketkeeper for the T20I series as Rishabh Pant was granted rest ahead of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand and Australia. The Bangladesh T20I series will begin on October 6. There are three matches in the series.
