KOCHI: The investigating team has informed that the friends of the son of actor Siddique, who is absconding in the sexual assault case, was taken into custody and released. Nahi and Paul, friends of Siddique's son Shaheen and natives of Kochi, were taken into custody. The investigating team said they were taken into custody following information that they had helped Siddique, who is absconding. The investigating team said that it was they who brought the SIM card and dongle to Siddique. They were taken into custody for questioning about it. The investigating team said that they will be summoned again.
The relatives had earlier alleged that the police reached the houses of Nahi and Paul between 4.15 am and 5.15 am and took them into custody. According to relatives, the police team came looking for Paul and Nahi in the morning asking them where Siddique was. The relatives had lodged a complaint with the Kochi City Police Commissioner against the custody that took place in the morning without following the procedure. Relatives said they had no information about the youths.
Meanwhile, the government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court pointing out that actor Siddique is challenging the law. The government also informed the Supreme Court that despite the high court rejecting Siddique's anticipatory bail, he was hiding in the shadow of higher authorities, reluctant to accept the law. Decision has been taken to inform the court about the details when Siddique's bail plea will be considered on Monday. According to police sources, Siddique is under the protection of top officials and the evidence obtained in this regard will be informed to the court. The court will be apprised of the details, including the lookout notice and advertisements in newspapers in other states.
