IDUKKI: The Health Department has taken action against the Idukki District Medical Officer (DMO) who is facing serious allegations, including bribery. Idukki DMO Dr L Manoj has been suspended from service. The Health Department had earlier received several complaints against Manoj. In its order, the Health Department stated that Manoj was suspended pending investigation on the basis of these complaints.

The order further stated that Dr Suresh S Varghese, who is currently holding the post of Deputy District Medical Officer at Idukki District Medical Office, has been given additional charge of District Medical Officer. The Health Department Director has been directed to conduct an investigation into the complaints against Dr Manoj and submit a report within five days.
