THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The grandfather was sentenced to 102 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,05,000 in the case of molesting a five-year-old girl. Thiruvananthapuram Special Fast Track Court Judge R Rekha sentenced the 62-year-old accused in the case. The court said that the fine should be paid to the child and if the amount is not paid, he should be jailed for two years and three months more.

The incident took place between November 2020 and February 2021. The accused is the brother of the child's mother's father. The child was molested when she went to her grandfather's house to play. When the child cried, he threatened to harm her if she spoke out. Although she was in severe pain, the child was afraid and did not speak out. The grandmother had heard the child say that this grandfather was bad while playing with other children. Then, when the grandmother asked for more information, she told about the incident. When the grandmother examined the child's private part, she found that he was seriously injured and immediately informed the doctor.

After that, the information was reported to the police. In the medical examination, the doctor noted the wound in the private part. The court verdict says that the accused, who is the child's grandfather, did not deserve any mercy as it was a cruel act. The judge said that the accused should be given a heavy punishment as the incident shocked the conscience of the society.
