THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A young woman studying at a private civil service coaching centre was brutally molested by a car salesman in Thiruvananthapuram. Based on the statement given by the woman, Kazhakoottam police registered a case against Deepu GS (30) alias 'Cooper Deepu' of Kuravankonam Vikramapuram Hills.

The incident related to the case took place after 11 pm on October 8 in the apartment where the young woman lives in Kulathoor, Kazhakoottam. The accused is friends with the victim’s male friend. The victim’s female roommate was not with her at the time of the incident.

The accused and the complainant have known each other for six months. Accused Deepu called the complainant at 11 pm on the day of the incident on the pretext of revealing something about her male friend. It was late at night, so the complainant asked Deepu to come inside the apartment, making matters worse. After entering inside and exchanging social pleasantries, Deepu coerced the victim to drink alcohol and forcedly made her consume it. Sexual assault followed in the inebriated state.

These scenes were recorded by the accused on his mobile phone. According to the complaint, Deepu threatened the victim about releasing the video. The woman complained to the police last evening. In the police investigation, it was found that the accused had left the state. It is also indicated that his mobile tower location has been found in Karnataka.

The woman revealed Deepu's vocation, which is selling premium cars in the capital which resulted in the moniker ‘Cooper Deepu’. The medical examination of the woman revealed that she had been raped. The police investigated and inspected the apartment to obtain technical evidence. The woman's confidential statement was also recorded before the magistrate.
