THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at the Chief Minister and the CPM, the CPI state council on Friday said that the meeting between ADGP Ajith Kumar and the RSS leaders was more serious than the Thrissur Pooram disruption. The state council also alleged that the Chief Minister and his party tried to protect the ADGP.

The matter was not discussed in the Left Front meeting. Moreover, the Chief Minister was not ready to remove the ADGP from Law and Order duties. This is why the CPI State Secretary had to take a public stance against the ADGP. Ajith Kumar was stripped of the Law and Order charge only a day before the commencement of the new assembly session. According to the CPI state council, the government and the Left Front would not have found themselves on the defensive if they had taken this action earlier. It also stated that the repeated revelations of PV Anvar affected the reputation of the government.

The council expressed that it is not in line with Communist principles for other leaders to speak on matters that the party secretary should address. It also expressed its disagreement with the stance taken by National Executive Member K Prakash Babu in the matter. The CPI's position should be conveyed through the party's official mouthpiece by the State Secretary. However, it is unprecedented in CPI for senior leaders like Prakash Babu to announce the party's stance independently.

The statements made by Annie Raja on certain matters without consulting the party's state unit are unacceptable. The party needs to exercise control over Annie Raja. State Secretary Binoy Viswam clarified that he has not assigned anyone responsibility in this matter. However, he did not mention the names of Prakash Babu or other leaders. National Secretary D Raja also participated in the discussion.
