THRISSUR: The state government has said that it cannot release the investigation report of ADGP Ajith Kumar in connection with the Thrissur Pooram disruption. The home department is not ready to release the report on the explanation that it is a confidential document. The reply was given to the RTI application filed by CPI leader VS Sunil Kumar. It has also been clarified in the reply that an appeal can be filed.
However, VS Sunil Kumar responded that a decision on filing an appeal would be taken after consulting the party. Though an inquiry was announced after the allegations were raised in the assembly, the approach taken now is that the report will not be released. Sunil Kumar had asked why the report was not released even after seven months and said that the people should know the truth about it.
This report was not released by the Home Department considering it as a confidential document under Section 24/4 of the RTI Act. The Home Department had taken a similar stand earlier when the investigation document against the ADGP was sought through an RTI application.
