KATTAPPANA: The neighbour, who was beaten up by mother and son for breaking the window pane of their house, has died. The deceased has been identified as Janeesh (43), a native of Mattuthavalam in Upputhara. The court remanded Etsamma (48) and her son Bibin (22) to judicial custody.
Janeesh and his neighbours had been fighting for a long time. Around 10 am on Friday, Janeesh reached Etsamma's house, created a ruckus and broke the window pane. Etsamma then called her son. The duo thrashed Janeesh, who was alone in the house. The two fled, leaving behind Janeesh, who was unconscious. He was found lying unconscious after 11 am when people came to collect money for Kalolsavam. They
realised that Janeesh was alive when they sprayed water on his face. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by the police. Janeesh, who was admitted to Kottayam Medical College for specialist treatment, died at around 11.30 pm. After the post-mortem, Janeesh's body was buried at St Sebastian's Church Cemetery in Mariagiri, Mattuthavalam.
The absconding accused surrendered at the police station through a lawyer after the police took Etsamma's husband and elder son into custody. Peermade DySP Vishal Johnson is investigating the case. The police will submit a custody application for the accused in court today.
