KALPETTA: The political fronts in Kerala are gearing up to intensify their works hoping that the date for the by-elections in Palakkad and Chelakkara assembly constituencies and Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency will be announced on Tuesday. Candidate discussions are in the final stage. Once the election dates are revealed, the fronts will kickstart their campaigns by unveiling their candidates.
While Wayanad and Palakkad are the sitting seats of the UDF, Chelakkara is the sitting seat of the LDF. The by-election in Wayanad became necessary after Rahul Gandhi vacated his seat. Similarly, by-elections became necessary in Palakkad and Chelakkara after Congress's Shafi Parambil and CPM's K Radhakrishnan became MPs.
In the upcoming by-elections, LDF and UDF will employ strategies to retain their sitting seats and capture others. Meanwhile, BJP aims to replicate the successful "Thrissur model" by fielding strong candidates. Recent political controversies will also play a significant role in shaping the by-election narrative.
Battle will intensify in Wayanad
The Congress has announced that Priyanka Gandhi will be the UDF candidate in Wayanad. The front has begun preparations to ensure a tremendous victory for Priyanka. The responsibilities of assembly constituencies have been distributed to MPs and MLAs
LDF's seat is reserved for CPI itself. CPI is looking to field a candidate who has nationwide appeal. On October 17, the Left Front will meet in Mukkam to discuss the matter.
