NEW DELHI: An Akasa Air flight bound to Bengaluru returned to Delhi following a bomb threat. The new incident happened hours after the IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi had to divert to Ahmedabad due to bomb threat.
Akasa Air flight QP 1335 received a bomb threat. The airlines spokesperson confirmed that the bomb threat message was received on social media. Three small children, seven crew members and 174 passengers were on board. After receiving the threat message, the authorities directed the pilot to return immediately to Indira Gandhi International Airport. An Akasa Air spokesperson said the passengers have been shifted to safe places and a detailed search is being carried out.
This is the 12th incident happening in three days. An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York also faced a bomb threat last Monday. Following this, the plane made an emergency landing at the Delhi airport. There were 239 passengers on board. The bomb threat message was received through a post on X. There was a bomb threat on two IndiGo flights bound to leave for the Gulf that day. The bomb threat message was received on flight 6E1275, which was supposed to divert from Mumbai airport to Muscat, and flight 6E56, which was supposed to go to Jeddah.
The Vistara flight from London to Delhi also received a bomb threat. The threat message was found in the toilet of the plane which was on its way to London with 290 passengers. A message on paper read 'bomb this flight'. With this, the aircraft landed in Delhi and carried out detailed checks.
