NEW DELHI: After a gap, the state government has again approached the central government seeking permission for the K-Rail project. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan raised the necessity for the K-Rail project in a meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi today.
The chief minister raised the demand to expedite the Angamaly-Erumeli-Sabari railway line project also at a time when the proposal for a new railway line via Chengannur was raised. He demanded that the 3rd and 4th laning of railway lines in Kerala should be expedited.
The Union Minister assured that a decision on the demands will be taken after holding discussions with the officials. State Sports and Railway Minister V Abdurahiman, who was accompanying Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said they met the Union Railway Minister as a follow-up to the chief minister's talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August. Abdurahiman said the discussion was very positive and it was assured that positive action would be taken on other issues demanded by Kerala in connection with the development of the railway line.
