THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 15-year-old boy tragically drowned while taking a bath in the Karamana River on Wednesday. Abin (15), son of Sajith Kumar and Anita, a 10th-class student of Peroorkada Kendriya Vidyalaya, died in the incident. The family lived in a rented house in Kodunganur Shivaji Line, House No. 16.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near Kulasekharam bridge. Abin came to the river bank with his friend but jumped alone for a swim. He was dragged into the depths of the river and an alarm was raised. The scuba team of the fire force reached the spot after getting the information and searched late into the night but could not find the body. Then the search was called off around 8 pm.

The search resumed at 6.30 am on Wednesday and the body was found around 7.30 am. After the post-mortem, the body was received by the relatives.
