PATHANAMTHITTA: A sense of grief engulfed Karuvally in Pathanamthitta as friends and old colleagues paid last respects to ADM Naveen Babu, who committed suicide on Tuesday following humiliation from CPM leader P P Divya. Relatives couldn’t bear the sight of Naveen’s dead body as they broke up emotionally bringing tears to onlookers.

The body will be taken to the collectorate on Thursday for the public to pay homage. Later, the final rites will take place at ADM Naveen's residence in Malayalapuzha Karuvally.

The ambulance left the Kannur Pariyaram Medical College Hospital at around 2 am yesterday and reached Pathanamthitta Christian Medical Center at noon. The dead body was received under the leadership of District Collector S. Premkrishnan. Kannur District Collector Arun K. Vijayan and CPM Kannur District Secretary MV Jayarajan.

Naveen’s brother Praveen Babu alleged conspiracy in the delayed police action.

• Even though it was a suo-motu case, the action was taken only after eighteen hours. Even FIR was not registered till Wednesday. A complaint has been filed with Kannur City Police, SP and DGP. A complaint was also filed against the owner of the petrol pump who made the false allegation.

• More doubt into P P Divya’s relation with entrepreneur Prasanthan. Legal action will be taken by Naveen’s family.

• The Human Rights Commission filed a case against Divya. Judicial member K. Baijunath ordered that the district collector and the district police chief submit a report within two weeks.
