KANNUR: A case will be filed against Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya in the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The police decided to add Divya as an accused in the case. The team decided to proceed with the case based on receiving legal advice that the crime of abetment to suicide could be charged against Divya. The case will be prosecuted under non-bailable sections punishable with imprisonment up to ten years.

CPM State Secretary MV Govindan criticised Divya and said her remark should have been avoided and hinted at punitive action in the coming days. He added that the district committee will decide after examining it. Pathanamthitta party committee demands that strict action be taken against Divya.

The Kannur police will reach Pathanamthitta today to carry out a detailed investigation into Naveen's death.
