BENGALURU: New Zealand absolutely dominated day two of the first Test against India at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswammy Stadium on Thursday as they bundled out the hosts for their lowest score ever on the home soil and securing a fine lead of 134 runs with seven wickets still in hand. At the end of day two, NZ was at 180/3, with Rachin Ravindra (22*) and Daryl Mitchell (14*) unbeaten.

Devon Conway's 91 runs (105 balls) in one-day style laid the foundation for New Zealand's innings. New Zealand lost the wickets of Convay, skipper Tom Latham (15 runs) and Will Young (33 runs) on Thursday. The visitors have a lead of 134 runs with seven wickets remaining. Things might soon go out of hand for India if they fail to dismiss the New Zealand batting lineup very quickly.

Earlier, India's decision to bat first after winning the toss shocked everyone. Despite struggling to score runs in the first 45 minutes, Rohit-Yashasvi partnership succeeded in batting cautiously without losing a wicket. However, in an attempt to accelerate scoring, captain Rohit was dismissed for 2 runs by Tim Southee. This marked the beginning of the long procession of the Indian batting lineup to the pavilion.

Five key players - Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin - were dismissed for a duck (zero runs). Only Rishabh Pant (20 runs) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 runs) managed to cross the double-digit mark. Siraj (4*), Bumrah (1) and Kuldeep (2) scored minimal runs. Matt Henry claimed five wickets, conceding 15 runs.
