CHENNAI: Reports have emerged suggesting that the BJP might field actress and Tamil Nadu BJP leader Khushbu Sundar against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election in Wayanad. However, Khushbu has denied being informed about any such decision.

Speaking to a Malayalam online media outlet, Khushbu stated, "No one has approached me regarding the Wayanad by-election. I am not aware of the reports circulating. Neither the national leadership nor the state leadership has spoken to me about this."

The Wayanad by-election comes in the wake of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi vacating the constituency. If Priyanka Gandhi contests for the Congress, the BJP is expected to field a strong candidate.

In the last election, BJP state president K Surendran contested from Wayanad, and the party saw an increase in its vote share. This time, other names being considered by the BJP include A P Abdullakutty and Sobha Surendran. On the Left front, CPI leader Sathyan Mokeri is expected to be the candidate for Wayanad.
