KANNUR: PP Divya is once again at the center of controversy, facing accusations of inciting suicide, echoing a similar incident from 2016. Back then, a case was filed against her following a suicide attempt by a woman in Kuttimakkul. The incident involved Anjana, the daughter of Congress Thalassery block secretary Rajan and his sister, who had protested at a CPM office against DYFI leaders for allegedly assaulting Rajan. Both were arrested on charges of trespassing and assaulting CPM party workers. After their release from jail, Divya made statements on a television debate, accusing them of misconduct, which led to a case being filed against her. However, the case was later dropped.
The current case stems from Divya's corruption allegations against Naveen Babu but recent developments are raising questions about the legitimacy of these claims. Speculation is growing that her accusations may be fueled by personal enmity rather than facts.
Reports have emerged indicating that there was no delay in granting the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a petrol pump in question. Naveen Babu reportedly granted the NOC as soon as all the required documents were submitted. The Tehsildar, Supply Officer and District Police Chief provided conflicting reports regarding the safety of the pump's location. While the District Police Chief expressed concerns about potential accidents due to the pump's location on a curve, the Town Planner’s report suggested that the issue could be resolved by clearing obstructive bushes and leveling the land.
After a site inspection, ADM Naveen Babu issued the NOC, taking only six working days to process the application.
