Kannur District Panchayat President and CPM leader PP Divya, who publicly insulted Kannur ADM K Naveen Babu, was sacked from her position just two days after Naveen Babu's suicide, as public sentiment turned completely against the government. It is believed that the CPM acted swiftly, fearing that opposition parties would exploit the issue in upcoming by-elections. Police have also registered a case against Divya for abetment to suicide, under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Divya has been booked under a non-bailable section that entails imprisonment of up to ten years and a fine. Divya, who announced that she would make revelations about corruption within two days, has now lost her post and is now forced to seek anticipatory bail.

Reports now suggest that the allegations made by Divya during the farewell meeting were driven by selfish interests. It has now become clear to the public that Naveen Babu was an honest officer. Even Revenue Minister K Rajan has acknowledged this. Divya had alleged that the ADM had delayed the no-objection certificate for a petrol pump in Kannur for several months in anticipation of a bribe. However, the investigation conducted by the Collector found it to be incorrect. The ADM can grant the final no-objection certificate only after obtaining approvals from various departments. The file was cleared within six working days prior to the transfer, contradicting the claim of a months-long delay. It's evident that the allegation of delay was intentionally made to tarnish Naveen Babu's reputation. It has also come to light that the individual presented as the owner of the petrol pump lacks the financial means to support it. Therefore, it's clear that Divya was acting on behalf of others who were pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

The investigation should focus on uncovering the hidden interests behind the allegations made by Divya. Meanwhile, it has become clear that the propaganda claiming that a complaint has been filed with the Chief Minister against Naveen Babu accepting bribes is false. According to reports, the Chief Minister's office has confirmed that it has not received any such complaints.

Naveen's brother, Praveen Babu, has filed a complaint with the DGP, alleging that Divya and TV Prashanthan's conspiracy regarding the petrol pump is the reason behind Naveen's death. The police should investigate this and ensure that the culprits are punished. The outcome of this case should also serve as a message to other political leaders who indulge in such tactics. The image of daughters performing their father's last rites moved Kerala to tears. The only atonement we can offer to those children now is to bring the culprits to justice.
