KANNUR: The police have recorded the statements of the revenue department employees of Kannur district collectorate in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The staff council members have given a statement that former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya was not even verbally invited to the farewell ceremony. According to the statements, Divya's entry into the ceremony was unexpected and everyone was shocked after her speech. Those who attended the farewell meeting told the police that the ADM had ended his reply speech in three lines.

In PP Divya's anticipatory bail plea, she had said that she did not come to the farewell ceremony uninvited but at the invitation of the district collector. The statement of the employees contradicts this claim of Divya. Divya's plea said that she had attended another event along with the collector on the morning of the incident and that's when she received the invitation.

"I was a little late to reach the farewell event. When I reached there, it was deputy collector Shruti who invited me to speak. I had received complaints from many people that Naveen Babu is delaying the files. Apart from Prashanth, a person named Gangadharan had also lodged a complaint against Naveen Babu. On the basis of all this, I spoke with the good intention of expediting the file movement," Divya's plea said. "I didn't intend to push him to suicide. I will cooperate with the investigation. I will not abscond". Divya has also said that bail should be granted and also presented the full text of the conversation.
