PALAKKAD: The 'deal controversy' has become a campaign weapon in the by-election slated to be held in Palakkad, which political Kerala is looking forward to. The 'deal allegation' between the left and right fronts is in the name of BJP votes.

The CPM is weaponising P Sarin's allegation that Shafi Parambil has made a deal with the BJP leadership to give municipal administration to the BJP for the third time next year.

P Sarin had left the party alleging that there was a Congress-BJP deal in Palakkad. CPM central committee member AK Balan reiterated this allegation. He also said that the deal allegation should be taken seriously.

Minister MB Rajesh alleged that between the UDF and the BJP, there was an attempt for Vadakara, Thrissur and Palakkad package. He also alleged that in Palakkad the UDF would return the help it received in Vadakara.

Deal with people only: Shafi

Shafi Parambil MP responded that there is a proper deal and it is with the people. "We are not for any closed discussion like what happened in Pooram disruption. We've got a good candidate. We will go ahead with that candidate." Shafi laughed at Sarin's allegation and said let there be more serious allegations.

Rahul Mamkootathil said that the selection of CPM-BJP candidates is being delayed because there is a CPM-BJP deal in Palakkad. "What Palakkad has given us is a lot more love than we deserve. We have great success hopes and definite confidence. This time the competition is not as tough as it was in 2021," Rahul Mamkootathil said. PV Anwar, who had a spat with the Left, is also active in the campaign alleging a deal against the CPM.
