THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister PA Mohammed Riyas has announced that roads connected to Sabarimala and those important for pilgrimage in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kollam will be made travel-worthy by November 5. The minister was speaking at a meeting held at Mascot Hotel to review the Public Works Department's (PWD) arrangements for the Sabarimala Mandala Makaravilakku festival.

A special core team has been formed at the state level to coordinate the department's activities during the Sabarimala Mandala season. The core team, headed by the Secretary of the PWD, will assess the progress of ongoing work in the state. The members of the core team will review the work related to Sabarimala in their respective districts and ensure that any issues raised during the season are addressed promptly. The core team consisting of Chief Engineers will conduct inspections in the concerned districts and submit a report on November 1.

The conveners for road works in each district will be the Executive Engineers of the Roads Division in those respective districts. Under the leadership of the Chief Engineer, the works of the Building Division will also be specially reviewed, ensuring that the rest houses are arranged without any complaints. The electrical division will ensure uninterrupted power supply to hospitals and dispensaries.

All complaints received through systems like PWD For You, Toll-Free, and Control Room will be addressed on an emergency basis. A special meeting will be held with the Water Resources Minister to ensure that the Water Authority's activities are completed without disrupting pilgrims' transportation.
