KOLLAM: Earlier, news came about serial actress Shamnath getting arrested by Kollam police for possessing MDMA. Shamnath comes from Ozhukupara. She was arrested while returning home after collecting the substance from a distributor. Shamnath took the drugs from a distributor named Nawaz, a Kadakkal native.

Shamnath was arrested based on a tip-off received by the Paravur inspector. Police inspected the house in the presence of nearby residents. The woman's children and husband were at home when the police arrived. Police found 1.94 grams of MDMA stored in six envelopes inside the table.

Based on the woman's statement, the police also registered a case against Nawaz, the distributor. During police questioning, the woman admitted that she had been using drugs for about three months.
