RAIPUR: Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawans were martyred in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. The blast, which occurred around 12 noon near Khodiar village in the Abujmad region, also left two policemen injured.
The martyred jawans have been identified as Amar Panwar (36), a native of Satara, Maharashtra and K. Rajesh (36), from Kadapa, Karnataka. Both belonged to the 53rd Battalion of the ITBP, officials confirmed.
The incident took place during an anti-Naxal operation involving teams from the ITBP, Border Security Force (BSF) and District Reserve Guard of the Police. The operation had commenced from Orkha, Irakbhati and Mohandi areas. The blast occurred as the patrol teams were returning from the mission.
Four injured officers have been shifted to a hospital and are reportedly out of danger, according to officials.
